Hello Andreea, CarmenT and anyone else on this topic who wants to reply back. My name is Jacqueline. I'm totally blind and I'm very interested in Romania, especially Romania in the middle ages which was called Valachia. How is everyone?

Hi Jacqueline! Welcome to the forum!
Please tell us more about your interest in Romania / Valachia. It's quite rare that I meet people from other countries, let alone other continents, that are interested in the middle ages of this place. How did this interest arise, if I may ask? Was it Bram Stoker, or perhaps a major / minor in History?
Best regards,
Andreea

Well, I've been totally blind since birth and I'm engaged to a wonderful sweet man who is the light of my life. He's sighted, but he loves me no matter what.
I'm very happy to have him in my life. My interested in Romania and Valachia came about after watching a documentary on Vlad Tepes, the real Draculea. Is that how you really pronounce his name? Or is it dracula? Anyway, after watching it, I started to wonder more about the princes who ruled Valachia and also about Vlad's brother radu.
Do many people know english here? I can post in romanian but I'll have to use google translator and I hope people would understand me.
Take care.
Jacqueline

so it's okay if I post in english on the romanian forum subjects?
Anyway, I love hearing romanian names, like Vlad, Radu, Mircea, Mihnea, Mihale, Lidia, Andreea, and other names.
I'm sure there are many called those names here. I'd really like to make many new friends here.

Hi Jaqueline,
I think it's best to keep the posts in English, regardless of the language of the topic. Google translate is still "young" for Romanian, and gives way to confusing and/or hilarious translations. For instance, in the message you posted in Romanian you have just stated that you've been a set of window blinds since birth :)
Don't worry, I'm sure everybody on the forum will be able to cope with the English messages.
Cheers,
Andreea

Talking here, we can also improve our English.
I deleted the translated message in the other topic, it couldn't be understood, the Google translated so strange...

Don't worry about that, it's no problem. Google Translate works far better from Arabic to English, or Romanian to French, for instance, yet even there it still has some glitches. It can't beat human translation, as what it does is mostly word-by-word translation, sometimes with little semantics involved.
Anyway, keeping the conversation in English is surely a welcome exercise for the members of this board.
As for another way of translating between the two languages, I'm sure that some of us can act as a buffer between the English speaking part of the board and the non-English speaking one, should the need arise.
Cheers,
Andreea
